Scott Reynolds Nelson (University of Georgia)

Nelson is professor in the Department of History at the University of Georgia. He specializes in 19th century US history including the history of slavery and Reconstruction. Additionally, he writes about international finance, the history of science, and global commodities. He has been a research fellow at Harvard University, the Filson Historical Society, and Chicago’s Newberry Library. In 2019-20 he was named a Guggenheim fellow.
