The Emotional and Spiritual Context of Leprosy Diagnosis in French Caribbean Slave Societies (Race and Slavery in the Atlantic World)

Wednesday, October 9, 2019
6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
81 Wall Street, Gordon Parks Seminar Room 201
Kristen Block (University of Tennessee)

Kristen Block is a historian of the Atlantic World. Her research has focused geographically on the Caribbean, arguably the epicenter of colonial competition in the early modern Americas.  Religion and slavery were two cornerstones of early modern life and thus figure prominently in her teaching and writing about the colonial Americas, where Africans, Europeans, and Native Americans fought and collaborated with one another to shape social rules.

This event is part of the Race and Slavery in the Atlantic World working group. For more information, see https://rswg.yale.edu/.
